Mother's Day: Ethan and Mike making me lunch. It was a great day even though I was under the weather.

I just love the look on his face :)

This story is for me so I don't forget some of the precious moments that are happening every day.

A few weeks ago Ethan and I had a particularly fun week where he and I seemed to be on the same page. I needed to do very little discipline and we both had a blast playing with each other. The last few days have been quite the opposite. Ethan has challenged me on everything and I've spent most of my time and all of my energy disciplining him. No fun. However, even on the tough days like today he can still melt my heart.

We went to a church BBQ tonight that our good friend Kit organized. We talked to Ethan in the car on the way there about who would be there and he was very excited. When he saw Kit he called his name and waved. Then throughout the night literally whenever he would see Kit (which was often) he would wave until he got a response. Once Kit would respond Ethan would be so proud of himself but would kinda play cool guy and saunter away with a smirk on his face. At the end of the evening Kit went up in front of the group to pray and Ethan even followed him up front trying to get his attention.
Oh, he did something else cute tonight that I don't want to forget. We sang some praise songs at the end with one guy and a guitar and microphone. Ethan was enjoying it and standing next to (who else) Kit when he came running over to me. He wanted me to take his sweatshirt off. It was getting quite chilly and he didn't feel particularly warm so I was about to say no when I understood why he wanted it off. You see, he was wearing his guitar shirt and he wanted to be able to "play it" like the guy up front. "Playing" his shirt guitar looks a little like he's scratching his stomach with both of his hands. I obliged of course and he ran back to play his guitar with all joy and intensity. :)
God, thank you for this amazing little boy and thank you for these sweet moments that make the tough days easier.
